What Are Dave Romero’s Accomplishments as Mayor?

Homes for Our Residents

• Provided leadership in the Council approval of the Housing Element, avoiding state penalties and regaining eligibility for state housing grants
• Strongly supported Cal Poly’s on-campus and off campus housing programs
• Provided leadership in master planning and annexing much of the Tank Farm Road area so as to provide housing, shopping and homes for families

Water

• Established trust with North County communities to proceed with the Nacimiento project 
• Obtained joint participation with all parties in approving and constructing the Nacimiento Water Project
• Led the SLO City Council in design and construction of the reclaimed water system for parks, ball fields and the golf course

Less Traffic Congestion and Safer Streets

• Guided city in comprehensive street improvement program
• Led approval of programs that resulted in reduced accident rates in the city
• Led approval of bike lane improvements, the construction of the Bill Roalman Bike Boulevard and the Railroad Bike Trail
• Led council efforts to plan and obtain state funding for future highway overpass improvements at Los Osos Valley Road
